Cancer-Lung Collapse, the Legacy of 9/11 Pollution, Lessons from the State Audit Office, Attacking Long-Term Patients

The 8.2-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on March 28, 2025, caused the new State Audit Office building in Bangkok's Chatuchak district, which was under construction with a budget of 2.56 billion baht, to collapse. Although the damage was not comparable to the World Trade Center attacks, known as 9/11, on September 11, 2001, which killed 2,977 people immediately. But what the two events have in common is the toxic dust and fumes that come from the collapse of large buildings. As 9/11 proved, this dust was not only a threat on the day of the attacks, but also left long-term health effects that killed and sickened tens of thousands of people.
